Can you paint? If so, what media you’d like to use? I love paint, and it‘s not uncommon my teacher yell at me when discovered me while painting during class and few moments later I continue to paint on a piece of paper “who cares”. My skill get improved, and then I continue paint on canvas with watercolor, oils, even with the dried banana bark, but right now I found a “Fun” new medium for painting, I paint with a pen tablet, an Yes..!! that’s what I call “Digital Painting”. Have you heard ‘bout Digital Painting?
Digital painting is an emerging art form in which traditional painting techniques such as watercolor, oils, impasto, etc. are applied using digital tools by means of a computer, a digitizing tablet and stylus, and software. All digital painting programs try to mimic the use of physical media through various brushes and paint effects. Included in many programs are brushes that are digitally styled to represent the traditional style like oils, acrylics, pastels, charcoal, pen and even media such as airbrushing. There are also certain effects unique to each type of digital paint which portraying the realistic effects of say watercolor on a digital 'watercolor' painting. In most digital painting programs, the user can create their own brush style using a combination of texture and shape. This ability is very important in bridging the gap between traditional and digital painting.
You don’t have to buy an expensive pen tablet for hundred of dollars especially if you are a beginner, if anyone tell you the more expensive the better, they’re wrong, I admit the more expensive it will be easier to use, coz it has a high sensitivity, many features implant, and the more "like" to the original brush on function, but the most important is your ability to control these tools and your instinct will produce nice results. Actually, my digital paintings I’ve show you below is created by using a cheap genius pen tablet, and I just wanna show of to a friend of mine Stevphanie Ricardo (www.breadnone.com) who always show off his expensive pen tablet (waccom) that cost ten times as mine .. hahaha
Many digital painting software like Corel Painter, Adobe Photoshop, ArtRage, GIMP, and openCanvas, you can choose whatever you like. Paint on canvas and digital although have same principle but they different, at least digital painting allows the artist the ease of working in an organized (with layer) and mess-free environment :D
Just like my friend whose using waccom (+ US$ 300) at www.breadnone.com I dared to challenge him to compare apple to apple with my handiwork of Digital Painting using my very very cheap Genius Pen Tablet even it cost not more than US$ 2.5
Hey Steve.. this sunday i'm comming to you.. :D
